"EMMA'S
GIFTS" was selected to screen at the
upcoming Sprout Film Festival on May 31st at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The Sprout Film Festival will present a selection of features,
shorts and documentaries at the Uris Auditorium in the MET.
People with developmental disabilities as subjects and performers
remain marginalized in film and television. The festival aims
to raise the profile and showcase the work of this population.
By presenting films of artistry, intellect and innovative styles
the SFF
hopes to reinforce accurate portrayals of people with developmental
disabilities, provide incentive for media makers to cover the subject,
and expose viewers to important messages about this disability.
The goal is an enjoyable and enlightening experience which will
help
breakdown stereotypes, promoting a greater acceptance of differences
and awareness of similarities.
